Black Bean Burger Triangles

Out of all the vegetarian recipes I've shared with you, this was by far my family's favorite. They couldn't stop reaching for more, and better yet, they didn't roll their eyes when I told them what I was cooking up for dinner!

I found this recipe from the MorningStar Farms website, where you can find TONS of other delicious recipes using their products by searching meal type, product, and other specifications. Since I love the Spicy Black Bean Burger patties, I chose the recipe called "Cheesy Black Bean Quesadilla Triangles". Not only was it easy to make...but it was fun! My boyfriend helped me cook these up, and we had a great time wrapping the triangles and serving them to my family. Click the link to read the recipe, and make it for dinner tonight!

Southern Style Breakfast Burrito

Brinner: Breakfast for dinner. It's a novelty that has captured the fascination of Americans for generations...
...What is this, the Food network?

Everyone loves Brinner. There's something fun about eating certain foods most specifically used for breakfast at the wrong time- a silly way to break the rules. It's one of those "special" meals that you don't get to eat so often, yet it's so simple. That's what makes it a great dinner option for a busy mom, a college student (moi), or a practicing surgeon...

Or you know, you just feel like making something simple and you don't have any other food in kitchen.

I came up with this SUPER SIMPLE recipe because I had to make dinner for myself, but I didn't feel like doing anything fancy because I'd been at work all day. Also, the meal was just for me, not my family, but it could be easily made for a group. I was also limited by the ingredients available to me in my family's kitchen, and I didn't feel like another black bean burger on a bun, so I improvised and came up with....

This Southern Style Breakfast Burrito!

Seitan Gyros with Cucumber Sauce

Does anyone else love Greek food as much as I do? Spinach pie, kalamata olives, tzatziki sauce- I can't get enough. So of course, I've been missing the ever-popular GYRO dish since becomming a vegetarian. Thank Zeus I found this recipe for vegetarian gyros!

I was thinking since my last post about trying Seitan for the first time (view it here) that the texture is very appetizing, and I thought I could use it in a gyro as a lamb meat substitute. Fortunately, the internet agreed with me, and I was able to find a DELICIOUS recipe for VEGAN Seitan Gyros!
Make it yourself for dinner tonight, click here to view the original recipe!

I decided to make a few substitutions to this recipe, unvegan-izing it. To read my adapted recipe using Greek Yogurt and fewer ingredients, click the jump!

Yummy Vegetarian "STROGO"

One of my favorite meals- adapted for my vegetarian lifestyle! Check out my recipe for a DELICIOUS "Beef" Stroganoff! For this meal I was inspired by PETA's "Classic 'Beef' Stroganoff" recipe, which was way too high in sodium and in not-so-natural ingredients. I adapted the recipe to include ingredients from my mom's own "Beef Tips & Noodle" recipe to create a more healthy, natural, and of course, vegetarian dish. For extra flavor and even less sodium, try making the cream of mushroom from scratch, or better yet, make a vegan version!

And believe me, for a college student who is used to having her dinners cooked for her by a dining hall or mother...this dish is easy enough to make and feed your whole family!

Since becoming a Vegetarian, Making Decisions is easier!

I've learned an important life skill since being a vegetarian-and that's how to be more decisive. It would take me longer to make up my mind on what to eat when I would go out to a restaurant as a meat eater, but now as a vegetarian, my options are narrowed. I still get delicious meals, but I have less overwhelming options to choose from. Narrowing down my choices has been an easy tactic to make decisions more quickly!
Decisiveness has been one life skill that I've learned better since becoming a vegetarian, but what have YOU learned from your vegetarianism or veganism? LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW and tell me a life skill you've improved on, or something else that you have learned or LOVE about your cruelty-free lifestyle!

Plant-based diets enrich us in so many diverse ways, I hope you'll share your experiences with me! :)

Five Guys needs a Vegetarian Patty!

I know right?! I couldn't believe Five Guys doesn't serve a vegetarian patty such as Boca, when all they do is burgers (oh, and hotdogs. So why not add a meatless patty to the menu? I have no clue)! Watch my video, then give them your own feedback asking that they put a meatless patty on their menu by clicking here.

Reasons People are Hesistant to go Veg

In this post, I go over the common concerns that people have about being vegetarian, and the excuses that I think prevents them from considering reducing their meat consumption. Reasons include: "I like meat too much" "I won't get protein or other nutrients" and "One person won't do anything."

Don't tell yourself you can't do something, challenge yourself to consciously reduce your meat consumption, even just a few times a week! I believe in youuu!

Convenient Vegetarian Options at Taco Bell!

Are you considering becoming a vegetarian, but you're worried that you'll never be able to find anything to eat when you go out? Think again! In this video, I look over the menu of popular fast food chain Taco Bell and make suggestions of vegetarian friendly foods that they feature. It's a misconception that vegetarians are restricted to only eating at home, and that it's difficult for a vegetarian to find something to eat while out and about. I aim to show you another perspective in my chain restaurant videos! Hopefully you won't have to feel self conscious next time your friends suggest grabbing a bite at a fast food chain, because I'll show you plenty of planet-friendly options!

Don't forget to COMMENT if there's a restaurant chain you'd like me to review. My videos & posts are so lonely!

Check out Taco Bell's menu here.

If you're a vegetarian and are against supporting chain restaurants that serve meat in any way, take a look at PETA's McCruelty campaign.
The goal of posting these chain restaurant reviews is not to support the restaurants or their cruelty, but to show vegetarians and those who are considering reducing meat consumption that they won't always be limited when going out, and that there ARE readily available and convenient options out there for a vegetarian to eat!

Lastly, if you liked that raver video and aren't up to date on your memes (yew n00b), check it out here ;)

Why I'm a Vegetarian!

So I promise this will be the longest video I ever upload, but it's probably the most important video that I'll ever post! I explain how I got information about becoming a vegetarian, and what made me decide that I should no longer consume meat. I also talk about my transition from eating meat-based meals to plant-based meals, and how easy it was for me to start living green!
